Nabarro has bagged its first major instruction from the Mayor of London's London Climate Change Agency (LCCA).
Acting on behalf of the LCCA, the firm will help major property companies in the capital reduce their portfolios' carbon footprint.
The initiative, known as the Better Buildings Partnership (BPP), is expected to be fully operational by March 2009.
The Nabarro team is being led by real estate partner Graham Lust with assistance from corporate associate Kristy Duane.
Under the scheme, founder members, including Nabarro client Land Securities, Hammerson, Grosvenor and Hermes, will commit to reaching benchmark carbon levels, create a recognised sustainability index and develop 'green lease' principles.
Green leases will encourage both landlords and tenants to take on responsibility for increasing the energy efficiency of buildings.
