Nabarro hires former Halliwells partner for Sheffield office

Nabarro has hired a former Halliwells partner to lead its Sheffield banking practice.

Dean Gormley previously worked in the Manchester office of Halliwells, which went into administration on 20 July.

At Nabarro he will drive the firm’s regional banking practice and also work with corporate clients on their financing requirements.

Nabarro senior partner Simon Johnston said: “Dean will make a great addition to the banking and finance team, who are currently seeing a lot of activity. We’re pleased to see the continual growth and importance of the Sheffield practice.”

Gormley trained at Eversheds and joined Halliwells in 2006, becoming a partner that year.

The majority of the former Halliwells partners joined Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, HBJ Gateley Wareing, Hill Dickinson and Kennedys. A smaller number joined a handful of firms including DWF, Fasken Martineau and Pinsent Masons (26 July 2010).

The failed firm’s Sheffield insurance practice went to Kennedys, while the corporate team in that city went to Hill Dickinson.
