Nabarro finds new best friends

Nabarro has become the latest mid-market firm to ramp up its European coverage, with the expansion of its best friends alliance into Spain and Italy.
The London firm, which is already allied to German practice GSK Stockmann & Kollegen and Paris-based August & Debouzy Avocats, is launching an alliance with 12-partner Spanish firm Rodés & Sala Abogados and 13-partner Italian firm Nunziante Magrone. Nabarro senior partner Simon Johnston declared: "It's a model that's worked for Slaughter and May and we don't see why it won't work for us."
Johnston ruled out merger or common branding in the medium term, saying: "It's the strength of the individual firms that attracts us. Each of the relationship firms will lead in their jurisdictions and where we present to clients on a cross-border level we're confident we can demonstrate the strength of what we've got."
Nabarro currently operates joint training sessions with GSK and August & Debouzy, as well as sharing a Brussels base.
The three firms also hold a joint associate conference, which this year took place in Casablanca, where August & Debouzy recently opened an office.
