Nabarro’s Italian best friend Nunziante Magrone has signed exclusive tie-ups with firms in Albania and Turkey.
Since 1 January Nunziante Magrone has been working exclusively with B&B Law Office in Istanbul and ShukeLaw in Tirana.
The firm’s aim, according to Rome partner Gianmatteo Nunziante, is to remain an independent firm while creating a sub-regional reach across the Mediterranean.
“Our aim is to remain an independent and focus on the Mediterranean sub-region, which in my view hasn’t been taken seriously by other law firms,” said Nunziante. “If you look at Italian firms at the moment, most of them are concentrating on Eastern Europe, Dubai or China.
“We’re very much in the middle of the Mediterranean, and Turkey and Istanbul are places where Italian businesses are expected to make a lot of investments, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, which drive around 90 per cent of the Italian economy and are looking at internationalisation as a possible answer to the crisis.”
According to Nunziante, who adds that he would like to open more offices in the region in the future, the firm will focus on energy, infrastructure and shipping work in the two countries.
Nunziante Magrone has 34 lawyers across offices in Bologna, Milan and Rome and is a strategic alliance partner of August & Debouzy in France, GSK in Germany and Nabarro in the UK.
B&B Law office has two partners and nine lawyers in total, while ShukeLaw has three lawyers and was established by former Wolf Theiss partner Enyal Shuke.
