Nabarro adds Laura Ashley lawyer to Singapore team

Nabarro has added to its Singapore office with a Korean-law expert from the parent company of fashion brand Laura Ashley.

David Kim joins Nabarro as a partner in the firm’s Singapore office, which focuses on international arbitration, oil and gas, and infrastructure. Kim joins from Laura Ashley parent Malaysian United Industries in Kuala Lumpur. Before that he was the Korea practice head at SNR Denton legacy firm Denton Wilde Sapte.

Kim’s practice will mostly be focused on advising South Korean corporates. According to Nabarro, hiring Kim will help the firm tap into the trade between Korea and the rest of South East Asia, which is expected to reach $150bn by 2015.

In a statement, Nabarro Singapore head Emerson Holmes said: “This is a strategic move which reflects the importance of corporates from South Korea who are active in the infrastructure and oil and gas sectors in South East Asia.

“I’m confident that David will add to our record of achieving impressive client wins and work for the teams here, in London and in Sheffield.”

Nabarro opened its office in Singapore in September 2010 (20 September 2010).
