Paul Hastings has hired Clifford Chance partner Hart Holden as of counsel in its Washington DC office. He joins the corporate department, specialising in antitrust matters.
Macfarlanes has made up five new partners in its annual promotions round. They are Andrew Loan (corporate tax), Colin Morgan (debt finance), Richard Rogerson (debt finance), Tristan Ward (property) and Douglas Wass (contentious construction and engineering).

Paris-based Ginesti&233; Magellan Paley-Vincent has hired two partners. Armelle Walters-Renaud arrives from Allen & Overy as a corporate partner. Jean-Jacques Pujol joins from Dewey & LeBoeuf, also as a corporate partner. The firm also took on Brigitte Fleurot, Amaury D’Everlange and Nicolas Gacia as associates.

South West firm Stephens & Scown has appointed two new solicitors to its employment team. Laura McFadyen joins as an associate from Paris Smith & Randall and David Hodge joins as an assistant from Lyons Davidson in Bristol.

Southampton-based Eric Robinson has hired Sara Elliott from Mustoe Shorter as an assistant. Elliott specialises in prison law. The firm also took on paralegal Nicola Dillon from Foster Wells and freelance legal representative Stan Taylor as an accredited police station representative.

3 Serjeants’ Inn has recruited senior Australian barrister Nicholas Mullany to its medical law practice. Mullany was previously at Francis Burt Chambers in Perth and was called to the Bar in England and Wales in October 2007.Jan Zecher has joined Fish & Richardson as an associate in its Munich trademarks practice. He was previously an associate at Lovells’ Hamburg office.

Morgan Cole has promoted corporate lawyer Paul Hardman to the partnership. He has headed the firm’s Bristol office since it was established in 2007, after joining from Clarke Willmott.

Trowers & Hamlins has promoted four associates to the partnership. The new partners are: Alan Tate (construction, Exeter), Tania Tandon (employment, London), Emma Tarran (public sector, London), and Julianne Walshe (real estate, London). Meanwhile, Paul Robinson joins as director of human resources from Watson Farley & Williams, where he was HR director.

Birkett Long solicitor Liz Jones, who specialises in childcare law, has been granted solicitor-advocate status by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Bromley-based firm Wallis & Co, headed by Madelaine Henwood and Paul Stevens, is set to merge with nearby firm Judge & Priestly. Henwood and Stevens will join Judge & Priestly as members of the limited liability partnership.

Insurance boutique Davies Lavery has recruited Berrymans Lace Mawer partner David Brown as an associate. He specialises in large loss and catastrophic injury claims.

WilmerHale has hired Suzy Byron as a corporate associate from Maclay Murray & Spens and Nathalie Allen as an international arbitration associate from Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.

Bloomsbury firm Bishop & Sewell has recruited Monika Pirani as a senior solicitor in its matrimonial team. She was previously a partner at Christian Khan.
