Simon Pritchard, senior director of mergers at the Office of Fair Trading, will move to Allen & Overy at the beginning of next year, ­becoming a partner in the antitrust practice. ­London antitrust head Mark Friend said: “Simon has seen the merger ­control process from both sides of the table and brings a unique insight into how competition authorities think about their cases.”

London

• Brown Rudnick has become the latest firm to benefit from the collapse of Heller Ehrman by taking on former IP partner Richard Penfold. He joins the London corporate group less than three months after moving to Heller from DLA Piper.

• Five-partner tax boutique The Khan ­Partnership has hired Gerald O’Mahoney as head of commercial dispute resolution. He was previously a partner at Davies Arnold ­Cooper.

Weightmans has strengthened its ­professional risk team with the appointment of partner Quentin Fox from Squire & Co, where he was a partner. He specialises in professional ­negligence and claims on behalf of insurers.

• Private client firm Wilsons has hired Ian Davies as a consultant and Fiona Campbell-White as an associate in its London charities and schools team. They join from Farrer & Co and Henmans respectively.

• Technology specialist iLaw has hired Rachel Laurent, who joins from Watson Farley & Williams after a career break.

• Bryan Cave has promoted counsel Richard Stewart to partner. He will practise in banking, restructuring and commercial ­litigation.

• Rooks Rider employment head Caroline Doran has been promoted to partner. She was made an associate in 2005.

• Shepherd and Wedderburn has appointed former Eversheds insolvency partner Brenda Harris as an associate. She was previously a ­senior solicitor at The Khan Partnership.

• Paul Wilson has joined Morgan Cole in Oxford as a construction partner. Wilson joins from Berrymans Lace Mawer in Birmingham, where he was head of the Midlands construction group.

• Duncan Morris has joined private client ­specialist Wilsons as a partner in Salisbury. He was previously at Thring Townsend Lee & ­Pembertons in Swindon.

• Manches’ Oxford office has hired newly-­qualified corporate lawyer Leanne Warren from Thomas Eggar in Newbury. Also joining is newly-qualified employment lawyer Jay Webster, who trained at Wollastons in Chelmsford.

• Milton Keynes corporate firm Kimbells has promoted corporate lawyer Karyn Wong, property litigator Mark Brown and property lawyer Claire Morgan to the position of associate.

• Agricultural lawyer Miles Farren has rejoined Burges Salmon as a legal director after leaving 18 months ago to join Clarke Willmott as partner.

• Former US Solicitor General Paul Clement has returned to King & Spalding after a seven-year absence to establish an expanded national appellate practice and a strategic counselling practice.

• Hunton & Williams has boosted its ­Washington litigation and intellectual property practice by hiring Michael Oakes and William Potts as counsel from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and promoting Evangeline Paschal to counsel.
