Russell Jones & Walker (part of Slater & Gordon) has appointed criminal law solicitor and road traffic defence expert Paul Reddy to develop the firm’s practice. He joins the Manchester branch from Freeman & Co Solicitors, which was founded by ‘Mr Loophole’ Nick Freeman, where he was a director. Reddy will develop the new crime and misconduct division dealing with driving offences.
Berrymans Lace Mawer has appointed new partner David Vaughan to its property litigation team. Vaughan joins the firm’s London office from Bircham Dyson Bell, where he was an associate and senior property litigator.
Immigration firm Fragomen has appointed the former deputy director of UK Border Agency’s sponsor licensing unit Lee Bartlett to head its new dedicated compliance team, based in London.
Market insurance firm Robin Simon has appointed its former in-house counsel Darren Hanison as a partner to head its reinsurance and speciality and technology, media and entertainment practices. He joins from Plexus Law.
Speechly Bircham has recruited former Hogan Lovells of counsel Claire Fallows as a partner in its real estate and construction sector group. The firm has also promoted family law specialist Vikki Francis to partner.
Sam Fenwick, an R&I specialist, is moving to the London office of Gowlings from Osborne Clarke, where he was a senior associate.
DWF has added partner Andrew Symms to its construction team from Eversheds, where he was a partner. He will be based in Leeds.
Irwin Mitchell has appointed three senior lawyers to its public law team. Prison law specialist Nancy Collins joins as an associate solicitor in London from Bhatt Murphy, environmental and planning solicitor Justin Neal joins from Fish Legal, and regulatory dispute solicitor Michael Robinson, who previously worked for CPS and in-house at the Environment Agency.
Foot Anstey has added regulatory specialist Chris Pritchett to its Bristol office as a partner from Burges Salmon.
Ruth Smith has joined Mills & Reeve as its national head of procurement law from the same position at Pinsent Masons. The firm has also recruited corporate tax partner Kevin Lowe to its Birmingham office from Wragge & Co, where he was a partner.
Maclay Murray & Spens has promoted two partners, Alan Weccles in private client and Stuart Fitzsimmons in banking and finance.

Clifford Chance has hired Dirk-Jan Duynstee to its litigation and dispute resolution practice in Amsterdam. He was a partner with Spigt Litigators (formerly Spigthoff).
Pinsent Masons has strengthened its practice in Germany with the arrival of two senior lawyers in its Munich office. Christian Lütkehaus arrives from Portelet, a boutique advisory and asset management firm, and Holger Kessen joins as a partner from the Munich office of Boetticher Hasse Lohmann.
Gleiss Lutz has promoted Andrea Leufgen (dispute resolution/Frankfurt), Eric Wagner (dispute resolution/Stuttgart) and Johann Wagner (tax/Hamburg) to its partnership. South African firm Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs (ENS) has appointed Paul Winer as a director and joint leader of the insolvency department. He joins from Werksmans, where he was a director.
Senior project finance lawyer Julius Mukumbya Musoke has joined Bowman Gilfillan Africa Group’s Ugandan firm AF Mpanga as a partner, having previously been principal counsel at the African Development Bank in Tunis.
Anthony Travers has returned to law with a senior partner position at Travers Thorp Alberga. He joins from the post of chairman of the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange.
Kelly Malone has been hired by King & Spalding as an energy partner in its Singapore office, from Norwegian firm Wikborg Rein, where he was a partner and head of the firm’s global projects team.
Alexander Borisoff has been promoted to the partnership in the Tokyo office of Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy. He was previously an attorney in Milbank’s global project finance group.
Ashurst has made a double partner swoop on Herbert Smith Freehills in its Asia dispute resolution group. Rob Palmer will join the firm’s Singapore office and Chris Bailey will initially join the Singapore team before relocating to Tokyo.
Partners Mark Beckett and Rachel Thorn have left Latham & Watkins and joined Chadbourne & Parke’s international arbitration team in New York.
