Employment silk Suzanne McKie QC has left Devereux Chambers to move to Littleton Chambers. McKie will increase the number of
silks at Littleton to 15. She has been described as a rising star, having been made QC in March 2012.
Cobbetts, which has 24 lawyers in its four offices in Birmingham, Leeds, London and Manchester, has announced several promotions:
The promotions to partner are: commercial litigator Duncan Hope and real estate specialist Angela Bhaseen in Manchester; real estate specialist Julie Carr and banking lawyer Lucinda Peters in Leeds; and employment-focused Angela Simpson in London.
Appointed as directors are: property litigation lawyer Helena Davies, banking specialist Paul Crighton and real estate specialist Paul Moran in Manchester; and commercial litigation lawyer Darren Kenny, real estate lawyer Zo Hoida, corporate lawyer Emma Ray and employment lawyer Hannah Robbinson in Birmingham.
The new associates are: commercial litigation lawyer Andrea Smithen and business restructuring lawyer Richard Holmes in Birmingham; commercial litigator Phil Duignan, property litigator Jo Hadley, employment lawyer Richard Kay, real estate lawyers Roy Barry and Jillian Josephson and corporate lawyer Laura Lovell in Manchester; and corporate lawyer Stephen Roberts, banking litigation lawyer Jonathan Brooks, litigator Sandip Singh and employment specialist Kate Guilding in Leeds.
Bruce Jones has joined Marriott Harrison as a partner in the firm’s corporate department, having been a partner with Bircham Dyson Bell.
Plexus Law has appointed Martin Watson as a consultant solicitor and master mariner in the firm’s marine aviation transport and specie team. Watson was a partner and head of London marine at Kennedys. Plexus has also brought in solicitor Jamie Krisman to create a technology, media and entertainment team. She was formerly an in-house lawyer with music publishers Warner Chappell Music UK.
Wallace has added employment lawyer Nigel Forsyth to its partnership from Barker Gillette, where was also a partner.
Senior solicitor Duncan Ranton and solicitor Chris McIntosh will lead a specialist new children’s team in the family practice of RJW Slater & Gordon. Both join from Kingsley Napley, where they were solicitors. In the North, Simon Wilson has been appointed as a partner and principal lawyer to lead the catastrophic and serious injury work, having left Leeds-based Morrish Solicitors, where he was an equity partner.
DLA Piper has hired Adam Cooke as a partner in its London intellectual property and technology practice. He was a partner with Hogan Lovells’ intellectual property team.
Eleanor Richardson has moved from DAC Beachcroft, where she was an associate, to the London office of Lester Aldridge, where she will be an associate in the real estate team.
Ryan Robinson has been appointed as a director at James Peters Solicitors, a Sheffield-based division of The P&A Group. Since 2007 he was a senior manager with the Government-owned UK Asset Resolution, formerly Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley, disposing of assets and realising loans.
Joanne Sears has moved to Watson Burton as an associate in the commercial real estate team based in Leeds, having been a consultant with Michael Page in Yorkshire.
Simon Leyland has been made managing partner of Merseyside firm Maxwell Hodge. He has been promoted from head of the personal injury department, taking over from Michael Yates, who continues as a partner and who interviewed and hired Leyland 20 years ago.
Howes Percival has appointed Lee Humphries as an assistant solicitor and head of the residential conveyancing department in Northampton. She was a solicitor Premier Property Lawyers.
Birmingham-based SGH Martineau has appointed new partner Richard Ellison to its dispute resolution group. He was head of the mortgage litigation team for Shoosmiths.
Cripps Harries Hall has announced Paul Lester as a new partner in its corporate team. He joins from Lawrence Graham in London, where he was a corporate partner.
Penningtons has recruited Helen Drayton as a corporate partner in its new Cambridge office. She joins from Hewitsons in Cambridge, where she was also a partner.
Goughs Solicitors in Wiltshire has promoted family law specialist Richard Bebb to partner.
Former partner and owner of Lennon Heather, Peter Lennon, has joined the comercial litigation and dispute resolution team of Maples and Calder, based in the Dublin office.
Four solicitors have been made up to the partnership at Gianni Origoni Grippo Cappelli & Partners in Rome. They are: Giuseppe Cannizzaro, Fabio Chiarenza, Kathleen Lemmens and Ettore Scimemi.
Mark Kessler has joined the corporate practice group of Duane Morris as a partner based in the Philadelphia office. He will continue to serve as senior counsel for homebuilder Toll Brothers,where he was general counsel.
Weil Gotshal & Manges has hired two associates, Marguerite Walker and Érica Franzetti, from Crowell & Moring to the firm’s international arbitration practice in its Washington office.
Partner Nick White has been appointed to head Trowers & Hamlins’ Malaysian office in Kaula Lumpur, which was launched this month.
The Hong Kong office of King & Wood Mallesons has appointed eight new senior associates. They are: Emma Chan in banking and finance; Simon Wong, Karin Cheung, Nicolle Leung, Ivy Man, YY Cho and Rong Fan in corporate and securities; and Thomas Feld in dispute resolution.
SNR Denton has hired Sarah Zeng as a partner in the firm’s Beijing office, advising on energy infrastructure and auto-manufacturing industries. She joins from Weichai Power, where she was general counsel.
Withers has promoted Rita Ku Ming Wai from associate to partner in its family law practice in Hong Kong, pending regulatory approval.
