Cadwalader has hired two financial restructuring partners. Holly Neavill (pictured) joins from Latham & Watkins, where she was a partner in the London office after beginning her career in the US. Her experience encompasses high profile restructurings and distressed M&A deals. Louisa Watt comes from Richards Kibbe & Orbe. She was a London partner and a member of the firm’s executive committee. She has extensive knowledge of distressed debt and claims in the secondary market.UK

Former head of commercial practice at Baker & McKenzie’s London office Ilana Saltzman has moved to Coffey Graham as of counsel. Saltzman was with Bakers for 25 years and she has advised clients such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Polo Ralph Lauren, Starbucks, J Crew, Warner Bros and 3 on commercial agreements and transactions.

TLT has appointed Chris Williamson as an associate in its tax and estate planning team. He joins the City office from Withers, where he was an associate based first in Geneva and then in London. He has experience of advising on tax and trusts.

Keystone Law has hired ex-Norton Rose partner David Cohen to its employment pensions and incentives team. Cohen joined on 1 May and is looking for other Keystone lawyers to support him in his niche share scheme practice.

South

Manches has expanded its Oxford practice. Simon Knott joins the commercial property team from Shoosmiths’ Southampton office, where he was a senior partner in the real estate practice. The firm has also brought in two senior associates, Duncan Bain and Claire Clarke. Bain was hired from Morgan Cole while Clarke joined from Stevens & Bolton.

Shakespeares has recruited employment law partner Chris Kisby from Gateley, where he was a senior associate. He specialises in employment law.

North

DWF has hired 13 real estate lawyers from Eversheds. Five partners and eight associates will move to the firm’s Manchester and Newcastle offices. Partners Gavin Jackson, Adam Heather and Adrian Stanley will join the real estate team in Newcastle. Heather and Stanley will become Newcastle real estate head and Newcastle senior partner respectively. Eversheds’ national head of affordable housing Mitch Brown and former head of affordable housing litigation Suzanne Gregson will take up similar roles in DWF’s Manchester office.

Quality Solicitors BHP Clarksons has hired associate John Ferguson from Last Cawthra & Feather, where he was an associate. He has several years’ experience advising couples seeking separation or divorce.

Clarion has hired Linzi Sutton as an associate. Sutton comes from Eversheds and specialises in commercial law including general commercial contracts and IT.

Family firm Merrick has hired Liz Botrill, a former partner at SAS Daniels Solicitors and manager of its Chester office. Andrew Matthias, formerly a partner at Linder Myers, also joins the firm.

BHP Law has hired associate Paul Collingwood. Collingwood trained with Walker Smith Way, qualifying in 2008, and joins from SAS Daniels, where he was an associate.

Europe

In Ireland, A&L Goodbody has made up seven partners across its Belfast and Dublin offices. Dispute resolution and regulation partner Dario Dagostino represents international and domestic clients with a focus on contentious regulatory matters; dispute resolution partner Enda Hurley advises on a broad range of contentious commercial matters; Karen Killalea is an employment and litigation specialist; Laura Mulleady is an insurance partner with a focus on business transfers and amalgamations. Corporate partner Keavy Ryan has experience of M&A, inward investment and corporate reorganisations; banking and financial services partner Gearoid Stanley advises on debt capital markets, while IP and IT partner Ivan Waide has extensive experience advising Northern Ireland-based and international clients on technology development, protection and commercialisation.

Chiomenti has elected five lawyers to its partnership. Gregorio Consoli and Antonio Tavella both work in the firm’s finance team, while corporate and M&A lawyer Luca Liistro, tax lawyer Raul-Angelo Papotti and employment specialist Emanuele Barberis are also promoted.

Pavia e Ansaldo has hired Matteo Benozzo and Francesco Bruno as of counsel in the firm’s environment and health & safety practice. Both join from Legance and will be based in Rome.

Employment boutique Lablaw has appointed Lucia Bianco as of counsel in its sports team. Bianco began her career in-house at Lega Professionisti Serie C (the Italian soccer league).

Swedish firm Vinge has hired Håkan Borgenhäll as a partner. IP specialist Borgenhäll was previously head of Lindahl’s IP team.

Shearman & Sterlingis closing two-thirds of its German office network, with many of the lawyers in Düsseldorf and Munich set to lose their jobs with the US firm. Shearman will continue to operate in Germany via its office in Frankfurt, which has around 10 partners and another 15 associates. Several of the lawyers in the offices Shearman is shutting down, including high-profile M&A partner Georg Thoma, are expected to relocate to the country’s financial capital. Munich is the US firm’s smaller German office, with two partners, while Düsseldorf has around half a dozen.

Hans Felix Schäfer has joined Graf von Westphalen’s Düsseldorf office as an associate partner from domestic firm HFK Rechtsanwälte. He focuses on real estate law, particularly in the logistics, retail, hotel and special property sectors. He also specialises in asset management including commercial lease law, as well as green building and leases.

US

Duane Morris has hired Bruce Czachor as a corporate partner in its New York office. Czachor joins from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, where he was also a partner, and spent more than two decades at Shearman & Sterling. He focuses his practice on investment banking and corporate clients in capital market transactions.

Cooley has hired Ray Hartman as a litigation partner. Hartman joins the San Diego office from DLA Piper where he was international co-chair of its securities litigation practice. He specialises in environmental and real estate litigation, toxic tort and product liability.
