Macfarlanes has made a rare lateral partner hire by re-recruiting Speechly Bircham international tax and wealth structuring head Charles Gothard.

He is set to join Macfarlanes in the first half of next year, although no precise start date has been finalised. He joined Speechlys as a partner in March 2005 from Macfarlanes.
RPC has hired Lockton International general counsel Charlotte Taggart as a corporate insurance partner.
McClure Naismith has strengthened its UK consumer finance and recoveries team with the promotion of Lindsay Lees to the newly created post of director of recoveries and the appointment of solicitor Harpreet Bassi from Blavo and Co.
Goodwin Procter has hired Ben Eaton as a partner in its London office. Eaton will be a member of the firm’s tax practice. He moves from Allen & Overy in London, where he was a tax counsel.

Banking and finance partner Samrad Nazer has joined the London office of Locke Lord in its UK transactional banking team. He specialises in cross-border and domestic debt finance and syndicate financings. Nazer joins from Squires Sanders, where he was a partner.
Yorkshire firm Stowe Family Law has promoted Nastassia Burton and Sarah Barr-Young to its partnership. Barr-Young qualified in 2009 and is based in the Leeds office while Burton qualified in 2010 and works in the Hale office.

Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office has appointed Sandip Khroud as an associate to its corporate team. He specialises in M&A, private equity and PLC client matters in Europe and Asia, having worked in Mumbai and Delhi. Khroud joins from Eversheds, where he was an associate.
McDermott Will & Emery has appointed two international arbitration lawyers, Sabine Konrad and Lisa Richman, as partners in its Frankfurt and Washington DC offices, respectively. Specialising in the area of international investment treaty arbitration, they both join from K&L Gates.
