Norton Rose has hired Allen & Overy (A&O) IP litigation partner Huw Evans as a partner.

Evans, who focuses on patent litigation, moved to the magic circle outfit in 2009 from Wragge & Co alongside DLA Piper IP partner Neville Cordell. The hire follows news of Norton Rose’s merger with US firm Fulbright & Jaworski, which is set to go live next June.
Katten Muchin Rosenman UK has hired tax partner Sanjay Mehta from Stephenson Harwood, where he was a partner. His practice focuses on transactional and contentious tax matters.
Eva Abeles has joined IBB Law as a senior solicitor in the charities team. She was previously as Bates Wells & Braithwaite.
Maurice Turnor Gardner has taken Allen & Overy residential property lawyer Sarah Conway as a partner. She will join the boutique in January.
Patent and trademark-attorney firm Withers & Rogers, has made five graduate appointments. They are Bethan Halliwell (electronics, computing and physics, London), Natasha Fairbairn (ECP, Bristol), Andrew Evitt (life sciences and chemistry, Bristol), Kevin Hanson and Jack Whitfield (advanced engineering, Leamington Spa and Sheffield).
Winckworth Sherwood has strengthened its London real estate team with the appointment of enfranchisement and residential property lawyer Syeda Malik as an associate from Glinert Davis, where she was a solicitor.
Fladgate has hired employment partner Daniel Wise from K&L Gates, where he was a partner.
Leeds commercial and property firm Dixon Law has brought in Mathew Haynes as a director from Morrish Solicitors, where he was a solicitor.
Ashfords has boosted its marine team with the appointment of partner Jonathan Sharp from Browne Jacobson, where he was also a partner.
Furley Page has appointed one of its newly qualified solicitors, Louise Mathias-Williams, to its elderly client team. She joined the firm as a trainee in 2010.
Brachers has made two new hires, with John Pritchard joining as a consultant after leaving boutique employment firm Simmons & Co, where he was a founding partner. James Bullock was a corporate partner at Irwin Mitchell and is now a partner and head of the corporate and commercial team at Brachers.
Three new lawyers have joined Morgan Cole. Senior solicitor Christian Davies moves from a role in technology procurement and outsourcing projects for the presidential Guard Command of the UAE Operations Command in Abu Dhabi. Commercial and corporate solicitor Cathy Bryant was a consultant with Clarks Legal and solicitor Mari Williams joins as a health and social care specialist from NHS Wales, where she was in-house solicitor.
DLA Piper has appointed two new partners in Scotland. Alistair Drummond joins the litigation and regulatory group and Callum Sinclair has been promoted to partner in the IP-IT group. Drummond was a partner with Biggart Baillie in the firm’s dispute management practice.
DLA Piper has appointed Jan Geert Meents as its new managing partner in Cologne, Germany. He follows Ulrich Jüngst, who had held the role since the foundation of the German practice in 2004.
Baker & McKenzie has expanded its patent litigation practice by hiring Jochen Herr as a partner. Herr is currently a partner with Field Fisher Waterhouse and specialises in representing clients in litigious patent case.
Norton Rose has appointed private equity funds and M&A lawyer Pawel Bajno to its corporate practice in Warsaw. He was a partner with Dewey & LeBoeuf.
Finance and regulatory counsel Dan Hanqvist has joined the Stockholm office of Roschier to boost its banking and finance practice. He joins from Vinge, where he was a derivatives and finance specialist.
White & Case has boosted its World Trade Organisation practice in Geneva with the addition of new counsel Erwan Berthelot. He was general counsel for Cosmetics Europe in Brussells.
Ropes & Gray has announced that Katherine Wang has joined the firm as chief China life sciences adviser in its Shanghai office. She joins from Sidley Austin’s Shanghai office, where she was a counsel.
Herbert Smith Freehills has strengthened its Greater China energy and natural resources practice with David Clinch moving into the senior partner position, based in Hong Kong.

Dani Kabbani joins as a partner from Simmons & Simmons, where he was a senior counsel, and Ben Moylan joins from SNR Denton, where he was a senior associate. Jennifer Westall rejoins the firm as a principal associate from Stephenson Harwood.
