Maitland Chambers’ silk Tom Leech QC has quit the bar to join Herbert Smith Freehills’ advocacy unit. He joins as the fourth partner in the department. Leech specialises in professional negligence and commercial, company and property litigation. Leech was called to the bar in 1988 and took silk in 2010.
Watson Farley & Williams has appointed David Shasha as a senior consultant in the corporate group. Shasha joins the London office from Canadian firm Gowlings, where he was Emea head for energy, infrastructure and mining.
Locke Lord has added commercial partner Alan Meneghetti to its London office. He was previously a partner at Clyde & Co.
Bristows has appointed Rosemary Choueka as a partner in the competition team from Lawrence Graham, where she was a partner and head of EU, competition and regulation. The firm has also promoted associates Dominic Adair, Jeremy Blum and Adrian Sim to partners.
Kingsley Napley has appointed Fiona Simpson as a partner in the litigation group. She was a special counsel at Withers.
Solicitor Arish Bharucha has joined City litigation boutique firm Cooke Young & Keidan from Herbert Smith Freehills.
Kemp Little has hired Nicola Fulford as a partner in the commercial technology practice from Bristows where she specialised in data protection.
Bindmans has hired Jules Carey as a partner to head the police misconduct team and Jamie Potter as an associate to its public law and human rights department. Carey was formerly a partner at Tuckers Solicitors. Potter was previously a senior associate at Hogan Lovells.
Pemberton Greenish has hired real estate partner Suzie Haydon and Sophie Carmichael as a legal executive. They both join from Child & Child.
Ellis Jones Solicitors has hired Tim Sharpley as a partner in the commercial property team. He was previously a partner at Dorset firm Laceys and rejoins the firm at which he trained. Meanwhile, associates Lauren Day and William Fox have been promoted to partners, bringing the number of partners
at the firm to 11.
Pennington Manches has hired Chris Snyder as an employment partner in its Basingstoke office. He joins from DAC Beachcroft and was previously employment head at legacy Davies Arnold Cooper.
North West firm JMW Solicitors has strengthened its corporate recovery and insolvency team with the appointment of Matthew Whyatt as a senior associate. Whyatt joins from SGH Martineau, where he was an associate.
Harper Macleod has hired Chris Noble as a partner in its real estate and construction team from DWF Biggart Baillie. The firm has also appointed two new solicitors to its private client and residential property team. Susie Henderson joins from Wright Johnston & Mackenzie, while Laura Burns joins from Morton Fraser.
Noerr has named nine new partners. Dr Kolja Dörrscheidt, Dr Tibor Fedke and Dr Anke Meier become equity partners. Six other lawyers were appointed senior counsel – Daniel Krannich, Dr Daniel Rücker, Rusandra Sandu, Dr Tanja Schramm, Dr Ingo Theusinger and Sebastian Voigt.
Latham & Watkins has hired Ignacio Balañá as a corporate partner in the Madrid office. He joins from Cuatrecasas Gonçalves Pereira.
Bird & Bird has appointed Driss Berehi as a partner in its banking and finance practice in Paris. Berehi was previously a counsel at Wilkie Farr & Gallagher.
Lisa Collins has joined Berrymans Lace Mawer as a professional indemnity partner in Dublin. She joins from DAC Beachcroft, where she was an associate.
Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek has hired Arnold Büssemaker as an equity partner in Munich from Weil Gotshal & Manges, where he was a restructuring partner.
In Chicago, Edwards Wildman has hired litigation partner Daniel Fahner. He was previously of counsel at Greenburg Traurig.
Sidley Austin has added Holly Gregory to its corporate governance practice as a partner in New York. She was a partner at Weil Gotshal & Manges.
Steptoe & Johnson has promoted 16 lawyers in seven of its offices. Tom Best, Simon Collis, Mike Fox, Patrick Linehan, Alice Loughran and Stephanie Roy have been elected to the partnership. The firm also named 10 lawyers as of counsel – Jennifer Bonneville, Hannah Cao, Sandra Cavazos, Kami Galvani, Andrew Gordon, Heather Horne, Michael Maas, Emily Nestler, Doug Peterson and Robert Vaught.
DLA Piper has hired Tim Tan as a corporate partner in Bangkok. Tan joins from O’Melveney & Myers, where he was counsel in the corporate finance practice.
Baker & McKenzie has hired corporate partner Will Seivewright in Dubai. He joins from Latham & Watkins and is a specialist in the UAE and global financial markets.
Simmons & Simmons has hired Tom Butcher as a partner to its corporate team in the UAE. Butcher was previously a counsel at Allen & Overy in Abu Dhabi.
Collas Crill has made up three partners. Fiduciary specialist Angela Calnan and property lawyer Michael Morris have been promoted in Guernsey, while Edward Stone has become the firm’s first partner in London.
Former Pump Court Chambers’ Spencer Keen has joined Old Square Chambers. Keen has previously worked at 5 Essex Court.
