Offshore firms Mourant Ozannes and Walkers have rejigged their management, both appointing new managing partners for Jersey.
Mourant Ozannes has picked funds lawyer Daniel Birtwistle as its Jersey head. Birtwistle ran legacy firm Mourant du Feu & Jeune’s London office in 2006 and 2007 and has been a member of the firm’s management committee since 2008.
Birtwistle takes over on 1 February from Jonathan Rigby, who is currently both Jersey and global managing partner. Rigby will now focus solely on the global role.
Meanwhile Walkers has confirmed Jonathan Tonge as its Jersey managing partner following the retirement of Hugh O’Loughlin. The appointment was first announced last year (9 May 2011) as part of a wider management shakeup at the firm. Tonge is also Walkers’ managing partner for regions.
The Jersey office has also been strengthened by three associate-level appointments from Bedell Cristin, Fladgate and Carey Olsen, and the relocation of senior counsel Joss Morris from the Cayman Islands to Jersey.
Carey Olsen has also boosted its Jersey partnership, promoting funds lawyer Daniel O’Connor and banking and finance specialist Peter German to partner.
