Mourant expands trust outfit

The trust company linked to Jersey law firm Mourant du Feu & Jeune is boosting its share plan administration business with a major acquisition in Croydon.

Mourant & Co is taking over the share plan administration business of William M Mercer in the UK, and will become one of the biggest such businesses in Britain. After acquiring the Croydon-based team it will boast nearly 200 specialists.

Mourant & Co is an independent trust company and special administrator which works with Mourant de Feu & Jeune to provide advice on financial services.

Mercer will continue expanding its share plan consulting service. Head of executive compensation Sean O'Hare says: "We believe our clients' needs are best served through a specialist provider like Mourant & Co."

James Crill, head of Mourant & Co's equity compensation solutions division, says: "This acquisition is another chapter in the story of planned growth."
