Scottish firm Morton Fraser has boosted its Glasgow office with the hire of Burness corporate partner Gordon McKelvie.

McKelvie, who joins the firm after six years as a Burness partner, is Morton Fraser’s first corporate-focused partner and his hire marks a significant push for the firm in the city.

Susan Younger, divisional manager of Morton Fraser’s corporate team, said: “It’s key to our strategy that we develop a good corporate presence in Glasgow and we’re pleased to have attracted such a high-profile partner. We’re already putting people through from our Edinburgh office to support him.”

Prior to joining Burness McKelvie spent four years as a partner at Scottish firm Biggart Baillie. Before that he was legal director and company secretary at Burn Stewart Distillers, the producer of whiskies such as Tobermory.
