US firm Morgan Lewis & Bockius has finally hooked up with former SunGard general counsel Lawrence Gross, having lent him to client and IT company KLA-Tencor for a stint as interim chief counsel.
He was scheduled to join Morgan Lewis in September 2006, but accepted a short-term assignment with KLA-Tencor to deal with shareholder litigation and the investigation of its historical stock option practices.
Chair of Morgan Lewis Fran Milone said: "Larry Gross did an excellent job assisting KLA-Tencor through a difficult period. Before that he was a key member of the senior management team that led SunGard to extraordinary success".
Gross joins as a partner in Morgan Lewis's business and finance practice. He served a 20-year tenure as general counsel of SunGard Data Systems, where he saw the firm's revenue grow from $50m (£25.3m) to $4b (£2.02bn).
While at SunGard, Gross created, developed and managed the legal, governance and compliance functions of the company. In August 2005 SunGard was acquired by seven private equity firms in an $11.4bn (£5.77bn) buyout.
