Morgan Lewis loses partner to e-company

Morgan Lewis & Bockius partner John Parker has left the business and finance department to join a new management team at new media and e-commerce company AirClic.

Parker joins as executive vice president of business development and legal at the company.

He says: "I was working with AirClic as its outside counsel. It is a very exciting company to work for, so when I was offered a job, it was hard to say no."

But he adds: "We still work very closely with Morgan Lewis and continue to use it as outside counsel."

At Morgan Lewis, Parker led many of the Philadelphia office's merger, acquisition and public offering transactions. He focused on technology and telecommunications clients including Safeguard Scientifics and CDnow. He also served on the firm's hiring committee.

AirClic recently formed a partnership with mobile phone company Motorola, Symbol Technologies and Connect Things, an affiliate of Ericsson, in a $500m (£335.56m) joint venture concentrating on online buying.

Chief executive officer David Klatt says: "We have begun assembling the best prepared team for the biggest and best financed deployment in mobile commerce."
