The London arm of US-based Morgan Lewis & Bockius has expanded its associate engagement programme to provide all associates with a mentor as part of an ‘active education’ programme.
The entire London office decamped to Windsor at the beginning of the month for the firm’s annual education weekend, with talks addressing business development, employment issues and corporate law.
Managing partner Robert Goldspink is keen to ramp up the firm’s thorough programme of ongoing associate development.
He said: “We’re trying to make it much more dynamic, and provide every associate with an adviser. We have an extremely active education programme.”
Response to the mentoring, assessment and appraisal programmes has been extremely positive. Goldspink said associates were “thrilled”.
He added: “The idea is that they’re well informed, and it’s also a useful base to sound off everyone’s ideas.”
The associates are now meeting with Goldspink every week to discuss their experiences, ideas and problems, while they also have to attend biweekly knowledge seminars.
Goldspink said: “For the past two to three years we’ve been regenerating. Our associate retention rate is good and we have an impressive growth programme”.
