NAUTA Dutilh, the largest law firm in the Netherlands, has become the third Dutch firm to open a London office since 1990.
The office, in the City, will be staffed by partner Diederik van Wassenaer and two associates.
Van Wassenaer said there were three reasons the firm had opened shop in London.
"First, quite a few of our major banking clients are basing important parts of their capital markets and investment business in London and we thought it would be a good idea to move with them; second, we get quite a lot of referral work from English solicitors and American lawyers in London; and third, London continues to be one of the most important financial centres in the world."
Nauta Dutilh, which last year had 123 partners and 207 fee earners worldwide, follows in the footsteps of Dutch firms Stibbe Simont Monahan Duhot, which opened in London last year, and De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, which opened a London office in 1990.
Van Wassenaer has been a resident partner in Nauta's New York office since 1994.
The London office will concentrate on the practice of Dutch and Netherlands Antilles corporate, financial and securities law.
