San Francisco’s Morrison & Foerster (MoFo) has become the first law firm to be named on a list of the most gay-friendly places to work in the US.
Leading US gay magazine The Advocate has named MoFo in the list of 10 organisations with enlightened workplace practices and protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered employees.
Investment houses Leh-man Brothers and Deutsche Bank also made the list.
MoFo has a written non-discrimination policy that includes sexual orientation as well as gender identity. MoFo chair Keith Wetmore is openly gay and is keen to push the firm’s pro bono work for gay concerns.
As well as the firm’s extensive policies, MoFo supports and funds a myriad of gay groups and AIDS charities. These include the AIDS Housing Alliance of Sacramento and the Bay Area’s Pride Law Fund.
