Sinclair Roche & Temperly solicitor David Middleburgh is leaving the firm to head up the insolvency law group of Mischon De Reya.

Middleburgh joins Mishcons this week as the firm strengthens its insolvency department which, to date, was run through the commercial litigation department.

A spokeswoman from the firm said it was “pulling together different people in the firm who deal with insolvency” and added that the firm was keeping its eyes open for suitable individuals after a substantial increase in its insolvency workload.

“A commercial litigator with that expertise in insolvency is particularly unusual,” she added.

Middleburgh is dual qualified as an insolvency practitioner although he does not accept appointments.

“It allows me to combine my practical experience with a detailed knowledge of insolvency law,” Middleburgh commented.

At Sinclairs, he worked on cross-border and domestic insolvencies, mainly for banks, large financial institutions and insolvency office holders, particularly in the commercial property and transportation field.
