Mishcon de Reya is to revamp its private client practice to bring its flagship family practice into the fold.
Managing partner Kevin Gold said the new practice area would bring contentious trust lawyers together with those in probate, residential conveyancing and immigration.
“Ultimately family law will also be in the private client practice,” he told The Lawyer. “We want to be able to offer a Rolls-Royce service for individuals by having an integrated house of services. The aim is to become the best private client firm.”
Partner Tony Morton Hooper will head the newly formed practice.
It is not the first time Mishcon has attempted to bring private client together with family law.
According to a source close to the firm, previous efforts to merge the practices had failed because partners in the family department chose to block the move because of profit differentials.
