Minter Ellison has rocked the Adelaide office of Phillips Fox by poaching almost 25 per cent of its lawyers.
The team leaving includes three partners, a consultant and five other fee-earners.
In the litigation department Minters will take on partner Adam Bannister and three other fee-earners. Partner Marcus La Vincente, consultant David Lindh and an associate will join the general commercial department.
The insurance department will also benefit from the bulk hire, with the appointment of partner Grant Mitchell and one further fee-earner.
The hire takes the number of partners in Minters' Adelaide office to 31, making it the largest in the city. In the past year and a half, the firm has recruited a further 36 lawyers.
Managing partner of Minters' Adelaide office Nigel McBride said: "I believe that the South Australian market is over-serviced, so we decided that our strategy was to dominate the market as soon as possible with a very aggressive lateral campaign."
The loss leaves Phillips Fox with seven partners in Adelaide. The firm could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press.
