Australia's second-largest firm Minter Ellison has appointed the former national managing partner and chief executive officer of KPMG Australia Brian Jamieson as Melbourne managing partner.
This is Jamieson's first move into the legal profession after 40 years in accountancy. He was originally the managing partner of Touche Ross Australia, leading it through its merger with KPMG.
Jamieson takes over from Barry McGuiness, who has been in the role for five years and who has become international managing partner. The firm's international network includes offices and associated offices in Asia, the US, the UK and New Zealand.
"Brian was considering options, but we offered him a role he just couldn't resist," said national managing partner Phil Clark.
