"Better not join a Wall Street firm. They may pay more, but they're the first to cut in a downturn." Doesn't look that way to me. I suspect after this downturn, the US firms will take over London, just like US firms have taken over management consulting and investment banking. Anyone who can will move straight to a US firm. Maybe a couple of masochists will stay at Linklaters.
