Milbank raids Goldman Sachs for Asia push

US firm targets private equity with Sun hire

Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy has ramped up its Asian private equity practice was the appointment of Ed Sun from Goldman Sachs.

Sun, who joins the firm as of counsel, was previously general counsel for the Non-Japan Asia operations of Goldman Sachs' $US5.2 billion global private equity fund.

Prior to his time at the investment bank, Sun was counsel in the Hong Kong office of Davis Polk & Wardwell.

“We are fortunate to have Ed join us,” said managing partner of Milbank's Hong Kong office Anthony Root. “His experience at Goldman combined with his first hand knowledge of the Asian markets will enable us to further strengthen our capabilities in private equity, capital markets and distressed debt.”

Milbank now has approximately 25 lawyers resident in its Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo offices.
