Milbank has boosted the litigation capabilities of its London office with the hire of DLA Piper partner Tom Canning.

Julian Stait
Julian Stait, Milbank’s London litigation and arbitration head, said Canning’s arrival was part of the US firm’s ongoing strategic ambition to grow its City disputes capability.
“Tom has a mixed litigation practice but his heaviest focus is on international dispute resolution and arbitration,” added Stait.
“We had a real need for a second partner and I’ve seen Tom in action and know his capabilities. Our expectation is we’ll continue to grow.”
Milbank’s London litigation practice is currently handling a range of disputes for clients such as HP, Top Up TV and the creditors committee of Lehman Brothers.
Canning worked with Stait, DLA Piper’s former litigation group head, for several years while at his former firm. In January 2008, the year he was promoted to the DLA Piper partnership, he was listed as one of The Lawyer’s Hot 100.
Stait joined the US firm last summer with a remit to grow the London end of the disputes practice. Canning, his first partner level litigation and arbitration hire, started work at Milbank this week.

Every time DLA is in the news it is because another lawyer is leaving. Any people left there in the Middle East?

Anonymous @ 6-Oct-2010 5:50 pm, you are a hater. Why dont you look at the news from another perspective? DLA lawyers could be the most wanted lawyers because of the quality of their legal advice! It's actually good news to learn that DLA lawyers are being offered jobs more than other lawyers. A little less hatred makes your life easier, try it.
