Nabarro Nathanson completed a great month for its corporate group as, along with Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw (MBR&M), Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Travers Smith, it bagged a role on media company Pearson's £101m purchase of data provider Mergermarket. Nabarros partner Iain Newman advised investors NewMedia SPARK. Meanwhile, MBR&M partners Paul Maher and Michael Wallin advised Mergermarket together with Travers Smith, which provided tax advice and general legal counsel. Freshfields partner Simon Marchant led the team advising Pearson and David Bresnick, a partner at CMS Cameron McKenna, advised co-investors Beringea. Nabarros client NewMedia SPARK is in line to collect a profit windfall from the sale after seeing its original £1.2m investment in 1999 rocket in value.
