Merger madness

The marketing bumf for newly merged Blake Lapthorn Tarlo Lyons touts the South East firm as “the natural choice in law” – but it seems like the firm would like to be the natural choice for a whole lot more.

The ‘frequently asked questions’ (FAQs) section on the firm’s website contains advice not only on everyday legal topics such as planning applications and parking disputes, but also on questions including… er… gardening, benefit fraud and litter collection.

“Why should I water my plants?” is one FAQ. The answer? “Because otherwise they will die.”

Other supposed FAQs include: “How do I prune roses?” (“Cut off the bits you don’t want”); “How much litter is collected each year?” (“Lots”); and “Where do I get a benefit claim form from?” (“The civic building in Rotherham”).

Any readers not suitably baffled may also enjoy the answer to the question: “How do I report benefit fraud?” – all 363 words of which are written in Latin.
