McGuireWoods has sealed its second US merger in as many months.
The 750-lawyer Richmond-based firm, which posted revenues of $344m in 2004, plans to takeover 40-lawyer Los Angeles-based Van Etten Suzumoto & Becket.
In January the firm also agreed a merger with Chicago-based Gordon & Glickson. That deal boosted McGuireWoods’ Chicago office to around 150 lawyers, while the latest takes the firm’s recently opened Los Angeles outpost to over 40 lawyers.
Van Etten is best known for real estate and employment litigation matters and has had a working relationship with McGuireWoods for several years. The merger is seen as a formalisation of that informal arrangement.
