McGrigors is making a rare hire from the bar as 18 Red Lion Court silk Jonathan Fisher joins the firm’s tax litigation and regulatory team.
Fisher will start work at McGrigors in September, initially as an employed barrister but later as a partner when he requalifies as a solicitor. He will advise on business crime and regulation and tax crime, and will act as counsel where appropriate.
James Bullock, head of the department, said that he believed the hire made McGrigors the only City firm with a QC working in this area.
“With everything that’s going on in the field of regulatory and business crime, Jonathan saw a massive opportunity to extend his practice and improve his reputation from a law firm,” said Bullock.
Fisher said that it will be easier to provide the service clients require from the less polarised environment of a law firm than in a barristers’ chambers.
Fisher will be McGrigors’ fourth partner working in tax litigation and regulation.
