McGrigors appoints non-exec director

National law firm McGrigor Donald is one of the first UK law firms to strengthen its corporate structure with the appointment of a non-executive director.

Richard Findlay, previously group chief executive at media company Scottish Radio Holdings, has a track record in business management. He led Scottish radio station Radio Forth through its integration into the company.

McGrigor Donald senior partner Robert Glennie says: "We needed someone who has demonstrated a talent at growing a business and wouldn't be fazed by coming into a different type of organisation."

The move follows the appointment of Tim Wilcock as director of finance and operations in July.

"We began a move towards a corporate structure early last year," says Glennie. "We'd reached a size where it wasn't feasible to continue as we were. Now decision-making is quicker and we have freed up the time of partners who were previously tied up with management tasks."
