Martyn Gowar, former senior partner at LG and a consultant at that firm and at Penningtons, has become a partner at McDermott. He is joined by Andrew Vergunst from Maitland. McDermott will also bring in two associates to the team - one internal move and one external hire.

McDermott London head Doron Ezickson said: “Our view is that private wealth is increasingly a global business and we’re a leader in the US and internationally.

“We think it makes sense to serve our clients from both sides of the Atlantic. The two places where the law is most accommodating of [the necessary] vehicles are New York City and London.”

The practice focuses on wealth management for private companies, charitable institutions, private individuals and families and also works with the corporate and tax teams.

Ezickson added: “In terms of folks with capability in both locations, we don’t see anyone else, that’s part of the offering.”
