McDermott Will & Emery has poached a five-partner IP team from Morgan Lewis & Bockius in a major coup for its New York office.
The team, headed by Dennis Mondolino, also includes one counsel and nine associates. It means that McDermott will now have IP capability in all of its eight US offices.
Mondolino was previously a name partner at IP boutique Hopgood Calimafde Judlowe & Mondolino, which merged with Morgan Lewis in 2002. The team focuses on IP and patent litigation, including a particular strength in pharmaceuticals.
The other partners joining McDermotts are Lisa Ferri, Michael Hurley, Jason Lief and Richard Pettus.
McDermott New York head Peter Sacripanti said the hires were an exciting move for the firm, and that the addition of the IP team complemented the firm’s development in the city.
