McDermott raids Bakers for securitisation push

McDermott Will & Emery is set to land Baker & McKenzie securitisation partner Paul-Michael Rebus for its London office.

Rebus was Bakers’ first London securitisation partner when he joined as a senior associate from Cadwalader Wickersham &Taft in 2004.

Bakers has since ramped up its London securitisation practice follwing its raid on Norton Rose last year for a four partner team led by Jonathan Walsh.

McDermott’s London office has a limited securitisation practice with Nick Terras the only partner in its structured finance group.

Rebus’s experience covers a full range of products including auto, trade and loan receivables, commercial and residential mortgages and credit default swaps.

McDermott’s partnership is understood to have approved Rebus’s hire, and his last day at Bakers is set for this Friday.
