McDermott bolsters Paris base with three-strong Orrick team

McDermott Will & Emery has poached a team of three senior lawyers from Orrick Rambaud Martel in Paris, a year after opening in the French capital.

Orrick partner Bertrand Delafaye and of counsel Antoine Vergnat and Antony Martinez are all joining McDermott as partners, along with four associates hired from Orrick, Reed Smith and SJ Berwin.

Delafaye is a corporate specialist, while Vergnat brings tax expertise and Martinez is a litigator.

The hires follow last year’s launch in Paris with the hire of Herbert Smith corporate partner Jacques Buhart (25 April 2011).

McDermott has recently bulked up in the office with the hire of Weil Gotshal & Manges public law specialist Sabine Naugès and Jones Day of counsel Jacob Grierson, both as partners.

The firm has also been expanding in other European countries, picking up a team from collapsed firm Dewey & LeBoeuf to launch in Frankfurt (2 May 2012).
