Richards Butler, Eversheds and Bournemouth-based Lester Aldridge have won places on the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) panel.
The MCA, an executive agency of the Department of Transport, invited a number of firms to pitch for the work as part of its review of legal service providers. The panel comprises Babington & Croasdale, Clyde & Co, Constant & Constant, DLA, Eversheds, Hill Dickinson, Jackie Duff, Lester Aldridge, Richards Butler and Stephenson Harwood. Richards Butler shipping partner Richard Gunn said: "We're extremely pleased to have been included because the MCA is an important body in the shipping world, which will have an increasing influence on maritime matters and ship safety." The MCA handles maritime emergencies, safety and environmental matters. Richards Butler will advise on the competency of officers, shipping casualties as well as more general issues. The MCA was unavailable to comment.
