Mayo Wynne Baxter bulks up with Allen Ticehurst deal

The merger takes effect today (3 January) with the combined entity trading under the name Mayo Wynne Baxter.

Allen Ticehurst is an eight-lawyer firm dealing with family, conveyancing, employment, wills and personal injury law, as well as business law and dispute resolution. According to the firm, founding partner Peter Ticehurst sought the merger to secure the firm’s future after he retires later this year. Managing partner Stephen Bird will become a consultant at Mayo Wynne Baxter with all other employees retaining their positions.

Mayo Wynne Baxter has 30 partners and 160 employees across offices in Brighton, Eastbourne, Lewes and Seaford. The firm focuses on clinical negligence, commercial litigation, agricultural law, professional negligence, travel law and contentious probate.

In a statement, Mayo Wynne Baxter’s chief executive Chris Randall said: “As well as consolidating our regional position this merger fits with our core strategy for growth. Despite the difference in size there’s a great cultural match, with both firms committed to evolving legal services to deliver what customers want.”

Mayo Wynne Baxter is the product of a 2007 merger between Brighton’s Wynne Baxter and Eastbourne firm Mayo & Perkins.
