Mayer Brown takes two from Simmons in Germany

The German arm of Mayer Brown has bulked up its finance offering with two hires from Simmons & Simmons.

Jochen Seitz and Peter Maier join as partners in Mayer Brown’s finance practice in Frankfurt.

Seitz takes on the role of global co-head of debt capital markets. He was previously a partner at Simmons, where he headed up the capital markets team.

Maier was counsel at Simmons and specialised in retail structuring.

“Both hires complement our existing practice extremely well and strengthen our expertise in derivatives, international bonds and regulatory issues,” said Jörg Wulfken, Mayer Brown’s managing partner for Germany.

“These hires show the attractiveness of our platform. We’re trying to strengthen the platform strategically.”

These latest appointments add to Mayer Brown’s recruitment of Linklaters competition partner Carsten Grave in July this year. He joined Mayer Brown to act on antitrust litigation work.
