Mayer Brown scoops French Shearman partner

Mayer Brown has boosted its international arbitration practice with the hire of a Shearman & Sterling partner in Paris.

Christophe Dugué, who joined Shearman in 1990 becoming European counsel in 1997 and partner in 1998, has joined Mayer Brown as a partner.

The firm's chairman James Holzhauer said: "Christophe brings to Mayer Brown an extensive and successful track record in a wide range of arbitration engagements. His arrival further expands the global footprint of our international arbitration practice, which we have targeted for substantial growth in 2008 and beyond."

Dugué's experience includes representing multinational corporations and government-owned entities in international commercial arbitration cases. His litigation experience includes a range of commercial disputes before the French courts, mostly with an international element, in areas including banking and finance, construction, post-acquisition disputes and arbitration related matters.

Jean-Philippe Lambert, partner in charge of Mayer Brown's Paris office, said that, while Dugué will focus on international arbitration, his knowledge of litigation and corporate law will help the firm serve clients across multiple practice areas.

Before joining Shearman, Dugué was a legal officer in the international legal departments of Banque Nationale de Paris and Banque Indosuez.
