Solid European coverage and access to the securitisation market has helped Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw land a real estate finance partner from Addleshaw Goddard.
Stephen Bower joined the firm after his banking clients started to complete more European deals and expressed a desire for greater access to securitisation expertise such as commercial-backed and residential-backed mortgage securities.
He told The Lawyer: "Mayer Brown's connections in Western Europe, combined with its reputation for securitisation work, were two major attractions to coming here."
Mayer Brown has a highly active securitisation team and its European offices include Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Frankfurt, London and Paris. Bower's experience includes securitisation and derivatives. He also has knowledge of European emerging markets, having worked in Poland, and he was once based in-house at Crédit Lyonnais (now Calyon).
An Addleshaws spokesperson said: Stephen's aspirations and the firm's business plan did not align… We wish him well in his new firm."
