While at Mayer Brown Canning secured a major mandate for Northern Rock after being instructed by Andrew Caldwell of BDO Stoy Hayward, who had been appointed by the Treasury to put a value on the bailed-out bank’s shares (2 October 2008).
At E&Y Canning will succeed Trevor Faure, who joined the company in 2008 to build the global counsel office (30 January 2008). He will become global leader in E&Y’s legal services sector.
In his new role Faure will be support E&Y’s business development of major law firm and legal department clients with a focus on strengthening its position in the legal profession, the company said.
E&Y global managing partner global quality and risk management Victoria Cochrane said Canning “is enormously experienced and well respected across the global legal profession and will make a great contribution to our organisation”.
