Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw has appointed Julian D'Esposito to a newly-created position as partner-in-charge of the Chicago office
The 500-lawyer Chicago office is the last of Mayer Brown's 13 offices to gain its own focused partnerin-charge. Firmwide managing partner Debroa de Hoyos said: "For many years the Chicago office was such a large part of the firm that managing the firm and managing Chicago were closely related. As the firm has grown, Chicago hasn't been getting the attention it deserves. We thought it was important to have a partner dedicated to Chicago. It's a model that works very well for us in our other offices." D'Esposito, a senior partner in the firm's government practice and a well-known Republican, said: "It's a real opportunity for me. The office offers challenges as well as opportunities and I plan to overcome the challenges and meet the opportunities." He will take on the role for an initial term of three years, dividing his time between management and fee-earning. His public law practice includes acting for government and private organisations on a range of development matters.
