Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw has bolstered its French finance capability with the appointment of partner Matthieu de Varax.
De Varax, a specialist in asset finance for the aircraft, rail and ship industries, joins from Simmons & Simmons where he has been a partner since 1998.
His appointment to Mayer Brown bolsters the firm’s Paris office to 10 partners, however his key role will be as part of the European finance team, led by Ian Coles in London.
Managing partner of Mayer Brown’s Paris office Jean-Philippe Lambert said De Varax’s appointment responded to increasing workloads within the office and the planned development of the firm’s international asset-based lending and structured finance practice.
