Mayer Brown’s Spanish alliance partner Ramón y Cajal has landed the lead role on the first IPO to take place on the Madrid Stock Exchange this year.
Ramón y Cajal managing partner Francisco Palá is advising Telefónica and its call centre subsidiary Atento on the proposed 13 June listing of Atento, which values the company at between e1.16bn (£1bn) and e1.5bn.
Dewey & LeBoeuf is providing US and UK law advice to Atento and Telefónica.
Spanish giant Garrigues is acting for global coordinators Citigroup and Goldman Sachs alongside Latham & Watkins as US and UK counsel.
At Garrigues, corporate head Javier Ybáñez and partner José Luis Palao are leading the work.
The listing will see Telefónica offer 30.6 million shares - the equivalent of 51 per cent - of Atento, with an overallotment option of 10 per cent of Atento’s capital. The indicative price range is e19.25-e25 per share and the IPO could raise up to e756m.
The IPO is the first of an expected surge of listings in Spain this year. The government is in the middle of a privatisation and restructuring programme that could see IPOs of the state lottery company, the state airport owner and a number of struggling savings banks.
