May gets nod to succeed Judge as QBD president

Lord Justice Anthony May has been appointed ­president of the Queen’s Bench Division (QBD) of the High Court.

May LJ takes up his new role from 1 October, ­replacing Sir Igor Judge, who ­succeeds Lord Phillips as Lord Chief Justice.

May LJ said: “I will be spending more time on the business of the Administrative, Admiralty and Commercial and Technology ;and ;Construction Courts, and I look forward to meeting those challenges. The pressure of work in the Administrative Court is one area that will require my early attention.”

The news comes as Mr Justice Etherton is ­appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal on 29 September.
