London law firm Masons has teamed up with the Building Employers Confederation in a drive to generate more construction projects under the Government's Private Finance Initiative (PFI). It has worked with accountants Ernst & Young in publishing a guide, 'Profiting from investment', which explains how construction companies can become involved in PFI projects. Head of the firm's structured finance unit, Steven Janes, says: "PFI is about putting skills together. You get on top of the risks in PFI through co-operation. Contractors will make profits if their partners, from the private and public sectors, help them unlock the projects."
