Masons set for Dubai launch

Masons is set to open an office Dubai in an attempt to win rebuilding work in Iraq.

Masons will hope that its first Middle Eastern office can buoy a fading international practice, which has been hit hard by the Asian financial crisis.

Clyde & Co dominates the Dubai legal market with the largest office in the Middle East. Other firms in Dubai include Clifford Chance, Allen & Overy, Denton Wilde Sapte and Norton Rose.

Dubai has become a focus for attention because of the expansion of its banking community, which is capitalising on the Islamic finance explosion. Masons, however, hopes that Dubai’s proximity to Iraq and Kuwait will help it grab a slice of the reconstruction and projects work expected to flow if peace can be secured.
