Masons has poached back an associate who had left the firm and in the process won back prize client AOL.
Natasha Doman is returning to Masons as a senior associate four years after leaving to join former Masons partner Liam McNeive at his own firm McNeive Solicitors.
McNeive and former AOL UK general counsel Clare Gilbert worked together at both Nabarro Nathanson and Masons. The pair won AOL as a client in 1996 and took the company with them when they made the move from Nabarros to Masons.
Gilbert then joined AOL Europe as UK general counsel on 16 March 1998, the same day that McNeive set up his own law firm. McNeive admitted at the time: "The AOL relationship was what provided the final push for me to set up my own firm."
Gilbert has since moved on to 3G telecoms company 3 (formerly Hutchison 3G), with Tony Wales taking over as AOL's UK general counsel. McNeive retains a position on the AOL panel and will continue to practise as a sole practitioner.
Other clients that Doman advised while at McNeive Solicitors include FriendsReunited and QXL ricardo.
